Caroline's 9th Birthday

Oh, what a year 8 was for Caroline! Her turning 9 was very bittersweet for me. She is growing up into a such a beautiful young lady, but I just can't seem to enjoy her enough before time passes on.

Height: 52.25 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 65 pounds (50th percentile)

Caroline is thoughtful, reliable, hard working, and kind.  She blossomed as a reader over the last year and and continues to be an excellent mathematician. Art is still a great interest for Caroline, and this is the first year I've ever heard her say that she loves PE!  I was so proud of all the initiative Caroline showed throughout third grade in regards to her schoolwork. I never had to remind her to get things done, and her teacher said she was the most careful and thoughtful student in the class. We are grateful that Caroline had such a fabulous third grade teacher who encouraged her to go outside her comfort zone and be more assertive among her peers. We are also so thankful that Caroline grew so close to her friend Jasper this year. Watching the two girls grow and share a kind, thoughtful and considerate friendship is so special. And it doesn't hurt that Jasper lives around the corner from us!

Caroline also made great strides in swimming this year. In September, she began swimming year-round for NOVA. I was unaware that swimming is such a technical sport, but Caroline thrived on the need to pay attention to the details of each stroke. She worked so hard throughout the year, and before school ended, she was promoted to the next team up. Butterfly and backstroke are her best stokes.

For her 9th birthday, Caroline wanted to get her ears pierced! We checked that box with Jasper in tow and getting her ears pierced as well. For her 9th birthday party, Caroline chose to go to Spirited Art with her girlfriends. Being a Francophile, Caroline chose to paint the Eiffel Tower with Starry Night in the background. All the paintings turned out lovely, and everyone enjoyed the ice cream cake Caroline designed afterwards.

My hope for Caroline in the upcoming year is that she continue to develop into a kind, generous, and diligent person. I would love to see her outward confidence continue to grow. Caroline always knows what she wants; hopefully she'll begin to show everyone else more often!

For her birthday lunch, Caroline opted for Panera.

Cheers with a bread bowl on her birthday!

Caroline loved painting the Eiffel Tower with her friends.

She chose Paris themed wrappers to go around Hershey's bars as her party favor.

Petals and Pearls was the design for her birthday cake.

Getting a little help from Jasper

For her birthday dinner, Caroline requested a family dinner with formal attire worn in her honor.

She got a lot of Paris themed gifts!
