Halloween, Round I

Halloween is about a week away, but that isn't stopping us from partying our little costumes off! We went to Westwood yesterday for their family Halloween party and today we went to Daddy's office to trick-or-treat. We had a blast at both events, enjoying time with our friends and collecting candy left and right.
First up, here are the girls at the Westwood party...
Who's excited to go to the party??
Tinkerbell is!!!
And these girls!

Let's get this party started!

In the dining room, Margaret jams back a cupcake.
Julia ate about a pound of mac and cheese...
...and then chased it with lots of green beans!
SO excited about her  cupcake...
...delicious!
Next, here are our trio of ladies at the HW Halloween soiree...

(As you'll see, Julia was more into the trick-or-treating than Margaret. Miss Margaret has become quite the wallflower over the last 6 weeks or so. She does not like situations where there are a lot of people, preferring to stay out of the fray and observe from the safety of Mommy or Daddy's arms.)

Margaret the ladybug, face-jamming a snack (of course) before the party.
Ready to go!!
Julia the bumble bee.
Wait, so you're telling me I can just take this candy???
Well, alrighty then!
This party rocks!

And she's off!!
World's cutest superman: Michael!!

Julia stops along the way to play some putt-putt.
Margaret chowing down on a ring pop.
And then chasing it with a Twix.
Do I have something on my face?
We finished up the party with a quick craft and then headed to McDonalds for dinner...NOT a banner day for nutrition in our house ;-)

Fall Frenzy (Warning: Picture Overload Ahead!)

Whew! I need a moment to catch my breath because we seem to be busier than ever lately and there is no sign of slowing down. Our handful of Heppers has been taking advantage of the great fall weather and all the fun activities that our good old RVA (that's Richmond, VA for all you out-of-towners) has to offer this time of year! I've taken a million and two pictures in the last week or so, so let's get down to business and show them off!

Pumpkin Carving...

Our pumpkin patch pumpkins only made a week before Caroline decided she couldn't wait until Halloween to carve them.
Caroline watches intently as Daddy carves her pumpkin.
Margaret steadies the big pumpkin for Daddy.
We're getting closer: one child out of three looking at the camera.

Yuck! Was that pumpkin goo??

Unfortunately, on our block, the squirrels are infamous for their pumpkin eating ways.  Our poor pumpkins were massacred in just a few short days...

At St. Christopher's Fall Festival...
All decked out and ready to go with our new Halloween bags from Grandma and Grandpa!
World's slowest  and lamest carousel (but that didn't deter Caroline from riding twice and then screaming bloody murder when we prevented a 3rd time round)
Up...
...up...
...and away!!
Working hard on a sand pumpkin necklace.
So proud.
Caroline about to get her first cotton candy ever.
Looking good!
Yum!
Where have you been all my life?!

Julia got a taste, but wasn't wowed.
Sweet Margaret didn't seem to have a great time at the festival....
...even a snack didn't cheer her up.
But all it took was some book time back at home and Margaret was back in action!
Our pumpkin reading Five Little Pumpkins.
Sweet Margaret the book lover.
So happy!

Strolling the grounds of Maymont...

Caroline watching deer.
Julia sees a pig....
...and is thrilled to wave hello.
Still waving to the pig a few minutes later :-)
Caroline and Daddy racing down a hill.
Love these two :)
Margaret on the move, with a snack in hand of course!
