Lazy, Hazy Days of Summer

We've been enjoying a couple weeks of busy, but largely unscheduled summer days around here, and it has been wonderful. We've taken a break from camp, spent loads of time at the pool and in our backyard, hung out with friends and family, and let the lazy, hazy days of summer roll on without a care in the world. We even took a field trip to one of our favorite Richmond destinations: Belle Isle.

Brace yourself...there's a whole lot of pictures ahead!!

Marmee and Grampy came in town and were lucky to witness Caroline's first diving board jump!

Maybe, I don't really want to do this....
Off she goes!!!
Huge success!

Meanwhile Margaret was more interested in the poolside cuisine.
Grampy did manage to help her take a dip.

This view of the James River from the Belle Isle pedestrian bridge never gets old.
Julia "fishing" while Caroline (attempts to) skips rocks.
So happy to be in the Rivah!
Snack time on the shore!
Margaret was a little less enthusiastic about being at the river.
But we did manage to get her in the water.
Julia had a blast.

Caroline testing out an ENORMOUS chair at the Antique Mall.
The girls have finally perfected the "Hand Train." No one gets left behind, and they take turns being the engine, the freight car, and the caboose.
It has made my life SO much easier.

Weekend Recap

We had a great weekend! On Friday afternoon, the girls and I went to a pool party and then Mommy had a fun girls' night out that evening. On Saturday, we spent a nice chunk of time at the children's museum enjoying their water sprinkler playground and a great live animal exhibit. On Sunday, we went to the pool with friends, and then we went to a birthday party with more animals - this time there was a kangaroo, a lemur and a hedgehog (among others). It was a busy weekend for sure!

All of my pictures uploaded in reverse chronological order for some reason...so they tell the story of our weekend backwards :)

Sunday...
Margaret and Julia's new favorite game: push your twin around in the baby doll stroller.
Heading up the plantation drive for the birthday party. Margaret was...you guessed it...being carried by Mom.
