Memorial Day Weekend 2014

This past Memorial Day weekend was just what I needed after the crazy busy last few weeks: low key and easy-going. We spent 3 days together as a family hanging out around the house, at the playground, the pool, and a few other places around town.
Julia and Margaret helped me with some grocery shopping before the weekend got started.
Hanging out at Fort Cougar is one of our favorite things to do.
Caroline coaching Julia across the swinging steps.
Over at Westwood, the inflated water slide was a huge hit on Memorial Day!
Julia had her own special way of going down.
Margaret having a snack poolside.
Daddy and Caroline heading out on a bike ride.
Popsicle break
Julia taking down some Benny's BBQ. She was a fan of the pulled pork dipped in the Carolina style sauce AND ketchup ;-)
This blue jay had a lovely Memorial Day weekend too. He spent 3 days eating from his very own birdseed buffet!

Time To Fly

It's the end of the school year, and for Caroline that means it's the end of some pretty big chapters in her life. She is completing her time at First Presbyterian Preschool after 4 wonderful years of dedicated teachers, kind friends, and memorable experiences.
She is getting ready to say "not goodbye, but I'm not going to see you every day anymore" to some of her very best friends. It is a bittersweet time for sure. But as her teachers have been telling her class: it's time to fly, and Caroline and her classmates are all going to fly on now to different classrooms, schools, and on to new and wonderful adventures.
I'm pretty sure we've celebrated this transition in every way possible. We've been to more picnics, parties, and playdates in the last 3 weeks than I can count, and quite frankly, I'm ready to fly into some downtime :)

All of the end-of-school year hoopla started 3 weeks ago with the Mother's Day tea at FPP. It was a sweet morning filled with lots of love and hugs.
Caroline will miss her fabulous Pre-K teachers Mrs. Woo and Mrs. Slye.
Caroline showing off some pretty sweet dance moves at the ice cream luau she co-hosted with her buddy Mary Michael.
Having fun with Henry
A special class of PreK kiddos
9 months of ballet classes also came to an end this month with Caroline's recital.
Sweet ballerinas Caroline and Mary Michael

Little C and Big C
Excited to see Daddy backstage
Caroline's class together for the last time at their class picnic.
Caroline receiving her certificate of completion for PreK.
Someone else really enjoyed the PreK picnic and the Klondike ice cream bars they passed out there.
She barely noticed the certificate ceremony.
Gee, I wonder why?? :-)
Caroline and her sisters adding birdseed to a very special gift given to her by her PreK teachers.
It's time to fly!

Springtime Fun

Ah, spring. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. I love the warmth, being outdoors, and watching my girls play while we all enjoy the sunshine.  I don't even mind that the temperatures this past week were actually summer-like. Bring it on.

Finishing off a fun cookout with ice cream sandwiches.
Julia was even happier to be eating dinner at Mrs. Annie's when she got ice cream for dessert :)
Big girl dress up fun
Princess birthday party!
Be still my heart. These two...

The Westwood pool is open, and the girls are excited to swim!!
Margaret takes a break poolside.
These two won't be two for much longer.

Lookout! This diva turns 5 in less than a month!
Caroline gave Rody a springtime scrub down.
Julia makes stone soup.
Sister love.
