Here We Go!

It's the most wonderful time of the year....right? For me, the holidays can be quite stressful and frankly, not all that much fun. But every year I try my best to give the holidays a fresh start, hoping that this will be the year that I don't feel the need to shout "Praise Jesus!!" when January 1st rolls around.  And yes, I get the irony of that exclamation. ;-)

I can already see that this Christmas season will be special. The girls are at an age when they truly understand and are excited about Christmas. They are in awe of Santa and his reindeer (and his trusty sidekick/Elf on the Shelf, Jingle). Caroline is particularly interested in Baby Jesus and how it is that he has two Daddies but only one Mommy. We are just about settled in our new home and are thrilled to be decorating it for the first time. I am ahead of the curve (so far) on my Christmas cards and gift buying. We have already listened to our kids' Christmas CD approximately 1,000,001 times. All of these things should add up to a very pleasant Christmas.

We spent part of this weekend decorating the house. We are not done yet, but we have the tree up, the Christmas toys and books out, and a few strands of garland hung. The stockings are hung by our chimney with care and Jingle made his mysterious first appearance in our house today. We still have a ways to go before our halls are full decked, but we'll get there!

Caroline so proud of herself for hanging her own stocking.
Love these girls.
Can you tell she's excited?!
M and J hard at work.

Jingle's 2nd scouting point of the month: atop the fridge, decked out in treasures from Caroline's dress up box.
