Sweet Spot

Lately life has been a bit easier as the mom of three kids under 3. The twins are in what I would describe as a "sweet spot." They're solidly sitting and only semi-mobile, so I can still leave them alone without worrying about them wandering (too far) off. And with all the mild weather we've had over the last couple weeks, we've been enjoying a lot of outdoor time, making our days more interesting. It's nice that I can leave Julia and Margaret on a blanket at the playground with some snacks and a pile of toys and they are happy as clams, allowing me time to play with big sister C.

One bonus of having twins: a constant, instant play mate.

Today we received two items that are sure make bath time in our house a little easier: bath seats! Since Paul is rarely home before 10 pm, I'm a one-woman bedtime routine machine, responsible for feeding, bathing, diapering, dressing, etc. each one of our girls. I've been bathing the girls assembly line style; each girl gets dunked, soaped, rinsed, dried and dressed one at a time, one right after the next. Tonight our bath time looked quite different...

Finally, one of the best thing that's happened lately to make life easier is this....

Going to the grocery store used to be a moderate pain in the behind. I had to carry one twin in the Ergo and leave the other in her car seat atop the cart with a pile of toys to keep her entertained. I would pull the cart around from the end to make sure the car seat didn't go sliding off the end while also trying to make sure the Ergo'd twin wasn't grabbing things off the shelves. Add in trying to pay attention to my grocery list and the inevitable 50+ stops we had to make for adoring fans and an outing to Kroger was both exhausting and cumbersome to say the least. And I won't even go into the configuration if I had to take all three girls with me. Thank goodness for solid sitters and carts that have double buckles!! Now the twins can sit in the cart, and I can leave all the extraneous equipment in the car. Hallelujah!

Everyone says that having twins gets easier once they turn one. I sure am looking forward to more ease in about 4 months, but for now I'm happy to enjoy this sweet spot!
