Two Month Update

The twins are 9 weeks old now, but we didn't have their 2 month well visit until yesterday so I'm just now posting their latest stats. Overall, the appointment was great. I took all three girls with me, and Caroline was especially excited about the visit because the babies were going to the doctor but she was "no see doctor, Mama." As we schlepped through the parking lot and into waiting room, attracting looks of both pity and amusement, I was excited to hear how much the girls would weigh. After a quick peak at the office turtles and, we were in front of the scale with two naked babies and high hopes. And the girls did not disappoint; Julia weighs 8 pounds, 12 ounces and Margaret weighs 8 pounds, 2 ounces! Julia is now the same weight that Caroline was when she was born and Margaret is close to doubling her birth weight! Everything else during the exam went smoothly. The girls are meeting their milestones as expected for preemie multiples and don't need to be seen again for two months.
The worst part of our time at the doctor's was the ridiculous amount of shots the girls needed before we could leave. It took the nurse about 10 minutes just to draw up the 8 syringes and 2 droppers needed to vaccinate the girls! As Caroline warily watched, each of her baby sisters screamed their way through the shots and the application of 4 band-aids apiece.
And even though we had no intention of Caroline receiving any medical attention during this visit, the doctor suggested they go ahead and administer the flu mist vaccine to her while we were there. Well, you can imagine how this went over: like a sack of bricks. Before I knew it, I had three crying children on my hands and a long afternoon of crankiness ahead of me. Awesome.
Dr. Mahoney gets a listen of Julia's heart.

Margaret gets her ears checked.
