We were excited to welcome Aunt Allison into town this weekend for a three day visit! And although it was a bittersweet time for us as our Grandma DeNiro passed away on Friday, we nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed our time together. I'm sure "Grandma D" was smiling down from heaven as she watched all us girls together (and Paul too, of course).
After introducing her to the babies, I wasted no time putting Allison to work, taking her along for what turned out to be a disastrous Target shopping trip (think white shorts + diaper blow-outs from both Julia and Margaret + a store packed with back to school shoppers, and you might begin to get an idea of how bad things got), bringing her to a birthday party for one of Caroline's friends, and then enlisting her to babysit so Paul and I could have a date night.
Thank goodness Allison is a veteran Mommy, otherwise she may have run kicking and screaming from any one of these situations! Lucky for us though, she's a pro, and handled everything with skill and a good sense of humor.
Before she left, Aunt Allison even gave Caroline her first hair cut! I'm not sure it really counted as a full-on cut...it was just a trim of her "rat tail"...but she did a good job regardless.
