Let's Try This...

I've decided to go with this design for a bit to see if I like it. Some times I have to live with something for a while before I can make up my mind. Feel free to comment or email me with your opinion!

Water Babies

Here are two quick videos of Caroline and Sophia at the pool. Both girls had an especially good time in the water today and are taking terrific afternoon naps as a result!

Love Me Some Corn

We've found another food that Caroline loves: corn on the cob. Here's a video of her chowing down at one of the reunion dinners. Right at the beginning you can see how she originally has the ear pinned to the floor for extra efficient eating.

Caroline and Sophia

Caroline and I are currently in Georgia, attending the DeNiro family reunion. Most of the DeNiros from Ohio and elsewhere came down too and we've been busy eating, drinking, swimming, and enjoying each other's company. Caroline has been getting reacquainted with her favorite (and only) cousins, Landon and Sophia. Caroline and Sophia have been busy doing "girl" things like pushing a baby doll in a stroller, coordinating their outfits with bows, and of course, cat fighting.
Although I'm sure Caroline and Sophia will get along swimmingly one day and be the best of friends...today is not that day. Sure, the girls like each other, but only so long as there are plenty of toys to go around and one single toy is not coveted by both girls at the very same moment. Caroline has perfected the arms crossed pout and is able to dissolve into tears within seconds if needed. Sophia, with a little more street smarts under her belt, is an expert at hand to face combat, and if absolutely necessary, wielding all 12 of her baby teeth in order to win a toy.

Case in point: the Mickey Mouse ride on toy. It is a highly coveted item. The picture below show what happens when one girl gets it and the other doesn't.

Caroline has really been enjoying the pools at Big Canoe...

I Think She Likes Watermelon...

Our neighbors showed up on our doorstep last night with a wagon full of watermelons and tomatoes, harvested from their grandparent's farm. Paul and I hefted a melon and about 10 pounds of tomatoes into the kitchen where I promptly forgot about them until today at lunch. While I was cooking some pasta for Caroline, she got fussy while waiting so I sliced a wedge of watermelon and let her go to town. And go to town she did!
The pictures below do a good job of showing what Caroline thought of the watermelon. It's too bad I didn't video tape the action though, because what you don't get from the pics is the slurping sounds that Caroline was making as she sucked every last bit of juice out of that wedge!

"I'm not sure about this, but I'll try it."

"Hey, this is pretty tasty!"

"I'll have some more."

"Sslurrrpp!"

A Play Date at the Children's Museum

Caroline and I met our new Richmond friends Holly (the Mommy) and Hailey (the baby) at the Children's Museum of Richmond today for a play date. There were tons of exhibits to explore, but we spent the majority of our time in the "Little Farm" exhibit, which was designed for toddlers. Caroline and Hailey had a really good time playing in the vegetable patch, climbing into the farm truck, and checking out all the other fun things to do within the exhibit while the mommies had a good time having some adult conversation!
