Picture Post and Getting Back to Normal

Things with Noah's Children are finally starting to slow down. Next week will be the last hands-on week for Cary and me. After that, the auction management company takes over and hopefully all we have to do is sit back, relax, and watch people spend money at the gala!
I haven't had much time for updating the blog, but I do have lots of pictures to share. Hopefully, I'll be more regular with the posts soon.

First up, one of the snow "storms" (aka, 1-2 inches of accumulation) we've had in Richmond over the last couple weeks. Mommy woke up to her worst.nightmare.ever: Daddy out of town and snow on the ground. This Momma does not do snow. But since I had no choice, I bundled up myself and the girls and braved the outdoors...for about 15 minutes.

What is this??!!
Get me out of here!
Julia loved the snow.

Next up...dress up! The girls have been super into dress up lately. Luckily for Julia and Margaret, Caroline is very generous with her gowns, tutus, and accessories.

Here, Mom, put this on.
M trotting around in her princess shoes.
Nice hat, Julia!

Finally, ice cream and bath time! One leads to the other, as you'll see...
Julia is quite possibly the world's messiest ice cream eater.
So what if I spilled a few bites??
Margaret, on the other hand, is exceptionally neat.
Meticulous.
Caroline falls somewhere in between: a little messy, but not so bad.
Now it's time for fun in the tub!

Noah's Children

My life has been so full and busy over the last 3 and a half years that I never would have dreamed about making room for something else. But about 6 months ago, my attention and heart were pulled toward a foundation that I found so worthy of support that I decided to become involved. Little did I know at the time what I was getting into!

My friend Cary and I signed on to be co-chairs of the Noah's Children Gala Auction Committee. That's a long title for an even bigger job: we are responsible for securing over $45,000 in donations to be auctioned off in a gala with over 400 attendees this February 16th.

Noah's Children is Central Virginia's only pediatric hospice and palliative care program. If you are the parent or loved one of terminally ill child, Noah's Children is your invaluable resource for services and support during what is likely the worst time of your life. To say that Noah's Children serves a very worthy cause is an understatement and with that in mind, so began my journey with the Noah's.

Fast forward 6 months, and Cary and I are "in the weeds" of the final stages of our auction planning. To date, we have secured over $50,000 worth of items with the help of our auction team. We have amazing trips and experiences, beautiful works of art, jewelry, wine, and so much more ready to be a part of what is sure to be a fabulous night! Pair that with our top-notch venue (the historic Jefferson Hotel), a rockin' band, and some delicious food and drink, and the gala is looking to be a great success!

I do not ever post on topics outside of our immediate family on this blog, but I felt this was one occasion that deserves to be featured with the hopes of spreading the word about the wonderful work that Noah's Children does. If you are in town and interested in attending our gala, please see the invitation and link below about purchasing tickets. If you are an out-of-towner and would like to make a donation to Noah's Children, the link for that is below as well.

In any case, say a prayer for or send a bottle of wine to Cary and me. We are in the midst of a whirlwind of paperwork, emails, phone calls, and stress!! ;-)

Picture Post

It's been a while since I've posted, but this Momma is underwater with a charity job she's taken on, and  doesn't have time to post anything but pictures. More on the charity later. It's an exceptional cause, one which I am thrilled to be a part of,  but boy is it a lot of work right now!

Margaret and Julia are loving Peek-a-boo right now...

Caroline got her second haircut ever this past weekend and Margaret got her first!
Sweet Caroline before her haircut.

Julia watches her big sis get shampoo'd...
...and adjusts her chair.

Margaret getting acquainted with her styling chair.
Give her an animal cracker and she doesn't make a peep!
No big deal, just gettin' my first haircut here.
Haircut over...let the blow drying begin!
No haircut for Julia, but that didn't stop her from having a great time in a chair!

Christmas 2012 and A Happy New Year!

What a holiday whirlwind! We celebrated a mini Christmas at our house and then headed down to Atlanta for the real deal. Then we rolled back into Richmond just in time for a good friend's birthday party, our beloved Claire's engagement party, and an adult (yay!) New Year's Eve party! It was an exhausting but great holiday season!
